White House as U.S. negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff meet with Qatari mediators. But no Iranians in Doha. Iran is circulating a plan with US Ally Oman to collect tolls in the Strait of Hormuz despite American objections. The White House, reacting to the news as reported by the New York Times, telling Fox President Trump has been clear that Iran cannot control the strait, which is an international waterway. Tensions pushed oil prices slightly higher Tuesday ahead of the talks. But President Trump has been pressuring gas companies to lower prices to $2.50 a gallon, accusing them of price gouging. Meantime, Democrats, still broadly opposing military action, are expressing little faith in diplomatic.
