Democrats are criticizing President Trump for canceling a meeting with lawmakers as the government shutdown looms at the end of the month.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer Democrats rejected a previous Republican plan to avert a shutdown. They are demanding any spending plan, restore Obamacare, tax credits and Medicaid funding. It'll be a single trial for the man accused of carrying out Long Island's infamous Gilgo beach killings. The the New York State Supreme Court ruling against Rex Uerman, who had sought to separate the case into multiple trials. Uerman's accused of killing seven people across several decades on New York's Long Island. Lawyers had argued that there was no unique and consistent thread to all of the murders. But Prosecutors say the 62 year old targeted victims who were all petite women in their twenties involved in the sex trade, noting that nearly all of their remains were found in the same location. Investigators foiling what they say was a massive plot that sought to cause a telecommunications blackout. While world leaders gathered at the UN.

Agents say there's no evidence the UN General assembly itself was targeted, but the Secret Service says early findings do show these SIM cards trace back to foreign nationals and criminals long known to federal law enforcement. The Secret Service has not shared details on any arrest or specific government or criminal groups tied to this bust.
