Still some details that we don't know regarding this expected troop deployment, including when these troops will be sent and what their duties will be. The president just making the announcement on Truth Social saying that he's directed his secretary of War, Pete Hegseth to send troops to protect Portland at any of their ICE facilities under siege from attack by Antifa and other domestic terrorists. While there have been protests at the ICE facility in South Portland, the state's Democratic governor Tina Kotak maintains there is no national security threat in the city. Kotak says they have been provided no information on the reason or purpose of any military mission. Regardless, state and local officials have already reported seeing armored vehicles and more federal agents in the city, something they dismissed as merely a show of force.

This comes amid a rash of attacks on ICE agents and the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk's suspected assassin, Tyler Robinson is due in court on Monday. A defense attorney has been appointed. Here's Fox's Madison Scarpino.

Utah county is receiving $1 million in taxpayer money to ensure his team is, quote, qualified. And Robinson now does officially have a defense attorney. That's former federal prosecutor Katherine Nestor. And this all comes as investigators and prosecutors continue to build up their case against Robinson. They're still working to get all the details of his actions leading up to the shooting, higher motive and the possibility of co conspirators. Meanwhile, Kirk's wife Erica, who publicly forgave Robinson, making an appearance on the Carly Kirk show promising listeners that Charlie's show and legacy will continue.

With a government shutdown looming next week, President Trump and congressional leaders are coming together to discuss ways to avoid it. Fox's Marianne Rafferty reports.
Marianne Rafferty
President Trump will meet with top congressional leaders at the White House on Monday to try and avoid a government shutdown. Right now, lawmakers are far apart on reaching a deal. The main sticking points are overspending and health care. If they fail to pass a spending package by midnight Tuesday, federal workers won't get paid and many services will pause. The White House is also threatening mass firing.
Debra Valentine
Republican Congresswoman Lisa McClain of Michigan on FOX News Live, blaming Democrats for the delay.
Lisa McClain
Open to negotiations, but they have to be a little bit reasonable. And I don't think anybody in their right mind thinks $1.5 trillion of hardworking American taxpayers to give to illegals is reasonable.

The deadline, September 30th. Two storms in the Atlantic Ocean are growing and one could be aiming for the U.S. fox's native Ogle has the latest.
Native Ogle
All eyes are on the Atlantic, where there are two storms gaining. Streng Umberto is now a Category 5 hurricane with sustained winds of 160 miles per hour. It's not forecast to make landfall, but it could influence another storm's track and development. Tropical Depression nine could reach hurricane strength by early next week. The system is building over Cuba and the Bahamas. It's still unclear if it will hit the US but heavy rain and dangerous surf are likely from Florida to North Carolina.
Debra Valentine
South Carolina has declared a state of emergency ahead of the system, which is expected to be a tropical storm now by Sunday morning. According to the National Hurricane center, the United nations has reimposed sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program after last minute diplomacy failed at the U.N. the sanctions took effect Sunday. The sanctions will again freeze Iranian assets abroad, halt arms deals with Tehran and penalize any development of Iran's ballistic missile program and other measures. I'm Debra Valentine.
