He recognized the terrible loss of three Qatari negotiators who died in a tragic car accident after the deal was agreed to. President Trump also thanked Turkey's president, President Erdogan, and called out the many Middle east leaders who he praised for having the wealth to rebuild Gaza. 20 living Israeli hostages returned home today. Four of the 28 dead hostages returned to from Hamas to their families here in Israel. We expect more in the coming days.

President Trump appears to be softening his attacks on China in the hopes of striking a trade deal. In a post on Truth Social yesterday, the president said China's economic troubles would all be fine and insisted the US Wants to help China, not hurt it. Fox's Mike Emanuel with more from the White House.

That's a big shift from what we heard late last week when the president was threatening a new 100% tariff on Chinese imports to go into effect November 1st. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessen says the US and China spoke over the weekend. It sounds like President Trump and President Xi will meet in Asia later this month.

And the government shutdown continues with no end in sight. It is heading into its 14th day tomorrow. House Speaker Mike Johnson says the shutdown's on its way to being one of the longest in history. Details from fox's Chad Pergrim.

Republicans believe that turns up the pressure on Democrats to cave. Now. The Smithsonian museums are out of money. They're closing. However, the administration plans to pay members of the military. Republicans are refusing to even negotiate with Democrats. Democrats are not budging. They insist on money to defray the cost of Obamacare. Democrats ask what leverage they have when they are out of power. However, some Democratic votes are necessary to break a Senate filibuster.

Education Department layoffs are depleting offices that oversee special education and civil rights enforcement across the US the Trump administration started laying off 466 education department staffers Friday, reducing the department now to more than half the size it was when President Trump first took office in January.
