President Trump says the US and Iranian meetings here in Pakistan over the fate of this six week war have officially begun. Six hours after Vice President J.D. vance touched down here in Islamabad which many are considering the biggest assignment of the Vice President President's life to try to see if this war can come to an end. Currently in a two week ceasefire, Vice president kicked off the day meeting with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shabazz Sharif. President's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are also here. Vance met with when he got off Air Force Two. He was met by Pakistan's powerful army chief General Asim Munir who essentially shares power with the prime minister.

Inflation grew nearly 1% in March. That's on par with what economists predicted tripling from February. It's the largest increase since June 2022. Stripping out volatile food and energy costs. Core CPI hit 2.6%. That was slightly below the forecast. Inflation is above the Fed's target range and and will play a major role in its meeting this month. Fed members have been divided on when the next cut should come. Energy costs are up nearly 11% with gas spiking more than 21%. Average gas prices ticked up to $4.15 a gallon a month ago. That was 354.
