American and Iranian officials say they've made significant progress in negotiations on a ceasefire agreement. A senior administration official says the two sides are about 80 to 85% of the way there. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Al Garchi writes a deal quote has never been closer. Pending its finalization, the media should refrain from entering speculation about its content. Specifics are unclear, though a senior administration official suggested an initial phase would extend the ceasefire for 60 days when Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz, agree to dismantle its nuclear material and ship it out of the country and end its support for terrorist groups across the region. If Iran hits certain performance metrics, then it could receive access to billions in frozen assets.

authority for the government's foremost intelligence gathering weapon to foil terrorism. FISA section 702 expires. There's worry about unprecedented vulnerabilities. This summer, a bipartisan coalition tanked an emergency FISA extension in Congress. FISA siphons the calls, emails and texts of foreign intelligence targets. However, it's unclear if telecommunications companies will provide digital breadcrumbs to the government lacking a congressional safeguard. Kroner, the FISA expert, says people shouldn't worry now.

Charlie Kirk's accused assassin, Tyler Robinson lost his latest bid to postpone his preliminary hearing. His lawyers wanted to hit pause while they appealed the judge's ruling allowing cameras in the courtroom to the Utah Supreme Court. The defense also asked the judge to sanction the prosecution for talking to reporters. Prosecutor Christopher Ballard said he had to set the record straight.
Rich Edson
We were concerned about the media stories that were saying first of all that the bullet in fact did not match and that therefore we had no case, that we had brought a groundless prosecution. That was our concern.
Claudia Cowan
