A Texas tragedy. I'm Jack Callahan. Fox News. 23 young girls unaccounted for as their summer camp near the Guadalupe river in central Texas was inundated by flash flooding. Fox weather is main from Kerrville, Texas.

The search and rescue effort has been going on for over 24 hours now. Just this flood water completely ripping homes off of their foundation. We've already seen about 24 confirmed dead so far from this flooding incident, over two dozen still missing. Among those that are missing are those little girls that were at All Girls Camp that was along the Guadalupe River. And those efforts are still continuing. They were continuing overnight. And as we move throughout the next few hours, family, parents, the community just praying for any information about their loved ones. Now the governor of Texas did issue a disaster declaration for 15 counties.

The sheriff of Kerr County, Texas, within the last few minutes has updated the numbers. At least 27 people are now confirmed dead and that includes nine children. A tropical storm forming off the coast of Carolina's Fox Weather's Mike Sidell is in Folly Beach, South Carolina.

40 mile an hour. So it's a minimal low grade tropical storm. The number one impact by far will be the locally heavy rain, especially along and where the center comes on shore. Sometime late tonight, but more than likely sometime Sunday morning, maybe before sunrise, maybe just after sunrise. It's a broad center at this point. It's moving north at 2, but it's expected to move more north and northeast and pick up some forward speed. This is not going to rapidly intensify. It's not expected to between sheer and dry air. We don't expect it to become any more than a tropical storm. The official forecast is it for to increase to 45 miles an hour.

News Protests continue against the new detention center in Florida named Alligator ALCATRAZ on.

The 4th of July, a day that for many symbolizes freedom. A group of protesters gathering in front of the so called Alligator Alcatraz Detention Center. The state argues the airstrip where the facility is located has long been an active training site with thousands of flights. Still, protesters have both environmental and humanitarian concerns. Meanwhile, over in Miami, similar protests downtown. This also comes as approximately 200 U.S. marines from the Core Air Station in North Carolina are being deployed to Florida to augment ICE's immigration enforcement, though it will most be logistical help.

Reporter Samantha Sosa of Fox affiliate WSBN 7 in Miami Police are investigating a mass shooting in Philadelphia early this morning. Eight people hurt, two listed as critical, according to police.
