Recovery efforts continue in Missouri after massive flooding killed at least one person, forcing also hundreds of emergency rescues and evacuations.

Floodwaters have receded in southeastern Missouri after 6 to 12 inches of rain prompted a flash flood em early Friday morning. Recovery crews are assessing damage and clearing debris using specialized equipment. Missouri Task Forces 1, 3 and 5 joined more than 40 agencies across the state and the National Guard in those rescue and recovery efforts. The Missouri DOT inspecting and repairing flood damaged roads as of Saturday evening, no additional deaths, injuries or missing persons were reported and recovery is expected to take time as communities begin rebuilding in southeastern Missouri. A father and son dead after a small plane goes down in Illinois.

Jimmy Don Lewis and his son Braden had attended Thursday night St. Louis Cardinals Milwaukee brewers game in St. Louis. Both were on their way home to Salome, Arkansas, but they encountered storms in Waterloo, Illinois. Their plane crashed into a field due to the rain and poor visibility. Rescue teams didn't find the wreckage till about five hours after the plane went down. Chris DeMaio, Fox News.
