Iranian officials spoke publicly today for the first time in days, indicating that indirect talks are ongoing. The country's Foreign Ministry spokesperson indicated Iran's national security would guide decisions in the days ahead.

A number of Republican U.S. senators are calling on the majority to skip the summer recess and stay in Washington to get the president's top priority passed.

Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee has called on Majority Leader John Thune now twice to cancel the August recess. Writing Sunday on X the Senate doesn't need a summer vacation as much as the country needs the Save America Act. Florida Senators Rick Scott and Ashley Moody and Jim Banks of Indiana have all said they're down to stay. The president wrote on Truth Social Thune shouldn't allow the Senate to leave town until the act passes, or better yet, they terminate the filibuster to get it through. Thune has said he doesn't have the votes to pass the act or to upend the filibuster or the 50 votes needed to pass the budget resolution the House passed last week, which includes the voter ID law.
