A bipartisan effort in the House to extend expiring Covid era Obamacare subsidies over fear health care costs could skyrocket for many Americans. Fox's Chad Pergram.
Chad Pergram
The House bypassed the speaker, forcing a vote on renewing the expiring tax credits for three years. Now the bill passed 230 to 196. Seventeen Republicans joined, all Democrats in voting yes. However, the House bill can't overcome a Senate filibuster. Senators are crafting a bipartisan compromise to wind down Obamacare aid and impose reforms.
Ted Lindner
The measure will go to the Senate and would need some GOP support to pass. The House has refused to override President Trump's vetoes on two bills, even though the measures had bipartisan support.
Jill Nadeau
One measure would have allowed Colorado communities to finance a water pipeline to serve tens of thousands. The other would have designated a site in Everglades national park as part of an Indian reservation. They both passed, but when they got to the president's desk, he vetoed both. He said he was concerned about the cost of the pipeline. And he said the Native American tribe that would get the Everglades land has been trying to obstruct reasonable immigration policies. And in the end, the House failed to reach the two thirds support needed to override those vetoes, with Republicans choosing to avoid a fight with the White House in an election year. In Washington, Jill Nadeau, Fox News.
