Critics have said the president isn't doing enough about affordability. And a man who authorities say was involved in a smuggling operation was shot during an exchange of gunfire with the U.S. border Patrol. Authorities say the suspect, Patrick Gary Schlegel fired at a federal helicopter near the U. S. Mexico border. Federal agents were attempting to apprehend the 34 year old Arizona man when he shot at a border patrol helicopter and at agents. Agents returned fire striking the man and wounding him. The man was taken to the hospital recovering from surgery. Schlegel reportedly has a criminal history that includes a December warrant for escape stemming from a smuggling conviction. Boston's police departments reportedly ignored every ICE detainer request from last year. Fox's Molly line in Boston with more.

That is according to an annual report that they are required to send. The commissioner of the Boston Police sending that report and it notes the 57 requests that were received from ICE in 2025 and notes that zero individuals were detained by the BPD and zero individuals were transferred to ICE custody. The that is procedure. The Boston Police Department is complying with Boston's Trust Act, a Sydney ordinance that was first passed in 2014, amended in 2019, reaffirmed in late 2024 ahead of the start of President Trump's second term. The act prohibits police from detaining a person solely on a civil immigration detainer.

Boston's police commissioner says the city's immigrant community should feel safe to report crimes to the department and engaging the city's police officers. Portions of the south and the Northeast are recovering from the historic storm that brought heavy sn. Officials are warning a second wave might be on the way. Fox's Nate Foy is in New York City with more on that.

The Northeast is bracing for a possible second snowstorm. The warning comes just days after a massive winter storm impacted 230 million Americans. Extreme cold temperatures are responsible for at least 34 winter storm related deaths in 14 states across the country. New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani says ten of them happened in New York, where the Hudson river is partially iced over. In Boston, the city received its eighth largest snowfall in recorded history with more than 23 inches at Boston Logan Airport. Farther south, a handful of states from Texas to Kentucky are dealing with major power outages. Boston, New York and Dallas have the most disrupted airports in the country, but Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says better days are coming soon.
