He won a special election on on Saturday. Mr. Speaker, does his election make your job a little tougher tomorrow? We have a one vote margin now so what could go wrong?
Jared Halpern
That's fine.
Chad Pergrim
We're happy for him though. The first vote is not to shut the government down. One top Democrat will vote yes. That buys time to get reforms at ICE. Now the bill only funds DHS until Friday the 13th. Otherwise DHS closes again and that means no pay for the tsa.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced on social media that all ICE officers in Minneapolis will now be equipped with body cameras. The plan is to expand this nationwide as funding becomes available.
The decision follows a weekend of protests against ICE, with thousands marching and demanding ICE leave the city.
Anti-ICE demonstrators also staged a protest at Target headquarters, urging the company to leverage its influence to push federal agents out of the state.
Context: The policy shift and protests are in direct reaction to the shooting deaths of two protesters by federal officers, which have sparked significant public outrage.

Texas Democrat Christian Menefee was sworn into the House, shrinking the Republican majority by one and raising the stakes for upcoming votes on federal funding, including the looming partial government shutdown.
The first significant test for this narrower margin concerns a funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)—the current measure funds DHS only until Friday the 13th.
The situation increases pressure to negotiate reforms at ICE, as the threat of DHS closure and TSA agents not receiving pay becomes imminent.
Memorable Banter:
