Mix of ICE and CBP agents immediately leaving the Twin Cities region, Tom Homan said after he reached an agreement with state and local officials to have county jails notify ICE of criminal aliens before they are released back onto the street so federal immigration officers can get them while they are still being held in custody and not have to go out into the communities to find them. Homan says this is smart law enforcement, not less law enforcement, and he emphasized that this agreement does not force local authorities to do any federal immigration enforcement themselves or even keep aliens a single minute past their scheduled release.

The man who tried to assassinate President Trump on his Florida golf course just two months before the 2024 election has been sentenced to life in prison, the sentence handed down by Judge Aileen Cannon, who had previously called the suspect not a good man.
