Trying to end the government shutdown. I'm Ted Lindner, FOX News. The federal government shutdown now into its 38th day as of Friday, but Senate Republicans reportedly have a plan to try and end it. Senate Majority Leader John Thune telling his colleagues Thursday he plans to add funding provisions for military construction in the Departments of Veterans affairs and Agriculture as an amendment to the stopgap measure that failed to pass 14 times. The Department of Transportation has ordered the reduction of flights at 40 airports due to the shutdown.

The FAA has order airlines to reduce the number of flights by 4% starting today, ramping up to 10% next week at the nation's busiest airports, including Atlanta, Denver, Dallas, Orlando, Miami and San Francisco. The National Air Traffic Controller Association President Nick Daniels says staffing issues are getting worse as they've now missed two paychecks and some workers are having trouble paying for gas, food and childcare.

US Strikes on Drug boats can continue after Senate Republicans block an effort to end President Trump's authority to authorize the strikes.

A group of bipartisan senators is trying to prevent President Trump from pursuing his air campaign targeting alleged drug boats in South America. A Senate resolution seeks to force President Trump to get congressional approval for further airstrikes, known as Authorization for the Use of Military Force. Quote to terminate the use of United States armed forces for hostilities within or against Venezuela unless explicitly authorized by a declaration of war. The secretaries of state and war sought to reassure senators that the Trump team is on solid legal ground and isn't planning imminent land strikes inside Venezuela. The top Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, Senator Mark Warner, says President Biden missed a chance to force Maduro from power back in summer 2024.

Powers with more Viktor Orban is expected to try and persuade President Trump to exempt Hungary from US Sanctions targeting Russian Last week the Trump administration announced sanctions against two of Russia's major state affiliated oil firms. It's a move that could result in secondary sanctions for buyers, which includes countries like China, India and Central Europe. Orban made comments to state radio last week saying he would try to make the Americans understand that Hungary needs a carve out from oil buying because the landlocked country has no other alternatives than to buy Russian crude.
