Former Michigan football coach Sharon Moore is charged with breaking into the apartment of his ex mistress and threatening to take his own life.
Unnamed Prosecutor or Reporter
Prosecutors laid out a lot of details of how we got here, starting with the coach's affair with his executive assistant. Just a few months ago when the university was investigating rumors of the affair, the 32 year old assistant denied there was anything going on. But apparently something changed in the relationship because early Monday morning prosecutors say she broke things off. And then on Wednesday she went to school officials with all of the evidence of their relationship and he was almost immediately fired. It appears Moore had some kind of a breakdown. His wife called 911 saying he was suicidal. And prosecutors say Moore went to his former mistress's apartment, broke in, grabbed some butter knives and kitchen scissors and threatened to kill himself.

Two months after investigators captured 28 year old Derrick Groves under a house in Atlanta, he appeared in a New Orleans courtroom where Judge Dennis Waldron rebuked him for the disruption caused by his five months on the run. Last year, a jury convicted Groves of two counts of second degree murder for killing Jamar Robinson and Byron Jackson at a 2018 Mardi Gras party and two counts of attempted murder in the same shooting. The judge said Groves showed no remorse and sentenced him for the four crimes to two life terms in prison plus two consecutive 50 year terms.
