President Trump considers military action in Iran, some members of Congress want a say.
Chris Foster
California House Democrat Ro Khanna and Kentucky Republican Thomas Massie say they plan to force Congress to vote on a war powers resolution on Iran when lawmakers return from recess next week. It would direct President Trump to terminate the use of United States armed forces from hostilities against the Islamic Republic of Iran unless expressly directed to by Congress, assuming full attendance. If every Democrat votes yes on the resolution. Just one more Republican other than Massie would have to join them for it to pass in the House. Even it would then need enough Republicans to support it in the Senate. And even then the president would presumably veto it. Chris Foster, Fox News.

Companies were importing more foreign goods early in the year ahead of tariffs. And then the trend moderated. In December, US imports rose by 3.6%. Exports declined 1.7%, though the Wall Street Journal says swings in international gold trading and imports of tech equipment impacted December's numbers.
