Some storm delays. I'm Paul Stevens, FOX news. Millions woke up to a winter wonderland this holiday weekend, but the snow was also piling up travel delays. Fox Weather's Robert Ray in Bryant park in New York City with details about the big chill.

All the folks in Bryant park walking around enjoying the snow. About four and a half inches fell in Central Park. That is not the 8 inches we were expecting, but it's the most snow since 2022. So if you love snow, here's the thing, all of this to melt at some point tomorrow into Monday. We're gonna have a big thaw tonight and then temperatures go up and then a rain sleet mix coming in and that's going to make a mess of all the beauty that the snow dropped. Unfortunately, travel is also really not pleasant. The three major airports here in New York are reporting massive delays and cancellations.

States of emergency were declared in New York and New Jersey during the storm. FBI Director Cash Patel saying the agency has finalized plans to shut down the iconic J. Edgar hoover building in D.C. fox's Madeleine Rivera Patel praised it as.

A cost cutting move that would also allow a transition to happen sooner than initially planned. He says in an exposed Taxpayers were about to be on the hook for nearly $5 billion for a new headquarters that would not open until 2035. Patel adding, this decision puts resources where they belong, defending the homeland, crushing violent crime and protecting national security. It delivers better tools for today's FBI workforce at a fraction of the the Hoover Building will be shut down permanently. Last month, Maryland officials sued the Trump administration, accusing them of breaking the law by redirecting funds that had been congressionally appropriated for a new FBI headquarters in Greenbelt, Maryland.

Two police officers recovering this morning after being shot during a child custody exchange in Mint Hill, North Carolina. Officials say a male suspect opened fire on the officers. They returned fire, killing the gunman. The officers are in stable condition. The investigation continues. Folks in San Francisco say those viral videos of smash and grab robberies and mob looting over the past few years are becoming a thing of the past. Reporter Betty Yu with fox.

Two officers, including plainclothes members of the organized retail crime task Force worked closely with store employees and loss prevention teams to identify suspects. At Shoe palace in Union Square, a security guard says they have not experienced a single mob style takeover. SFPD says a combination of high visibility patrols, targeted enforcement and tougher accountability has helped deter theft. Mayor Daniel Lurie says overall crime is down 30%. Citywide car break ins are down 44%. And the city is on track to end the year with its lowest homicide rate since the 1950s.

And Mayor Lurie touting more than 100 arrests in September. Authorities say a well dressed, apologetic bank robber in Portland, Oregon, is now behind bars. Fox 12 Portland's Abby Davis.

Over the last couple of weeks, The FBI says 62 year old James Dorsey took more than $7,000 from two banks, the US bank on December 12th and the Chase a week later. An FBI agent says he also tried to rob a Wells Fargo in the area on the 10th. According to court documents. In each case, Dorsey approached a bank teller handing them notes demanding money. The agent says Dorsey apologized multiple times, saying things like, I don't want to do this and the guys are waiting for me outside. Police later arrested Dorsey at his apartment complex nearby, where they found more than 20 guns and thousands of dollars in cash.
