U.S. southern Command struck another alleged drug boat in the eastern Pacific yesterday, marking at least the 30th strike since September 2nd. U.S. officials say two men were killed. The U.S. has conducted most of its operation in international waters, from targeting boats that they say are carrying drugs to seizing oil tankers. But it appears the US has conducted the first known land strike in Venezuela. The president giving more details about something he first mentioned last week in a radio interview, saying they hit a facility where ships come from. The president did not say whether the strike was conducted by the military or the CIA.

Second day of China's military staging large scale military drills around the island of Taiwan. Taiwanese officials say some of China's live rounds have landed closer to the island than before. China's official news agency posted a commentary saying the drill sent an unequivocal message that Beijing is always ready to prevent anything that tries to split Taiwan from China. A Minnesota fraud investigation gets more fuel from viral video showing what look like empty childcare centers that receive federal funds. Here's Fox's Garrett Tenney.

These concerns over fraud, particularly in the child care space in Minneapolis, go back more than a decade, including these surveillance videos that were part of a case prosecuted by Hennepin county back in 2015. The video shows parents checking their kids into a daycare and then then walking back out with them minutes later. Our Minneapolis FOX station reported that sometimes the kids wouldn't even show up and that either way, the businesses would bill the state for a full day of services. The state is responding to these latest allegations of fraud at child care centers, claiming that it's already investigated many of the businesses in Nick Shirley's viral video.

The commissioner of Minnesota's Department of Children, Youth and Families says facilities in the video were visited at least once in the last six months with no evidence of fraud. And asks with these videos shot when the centers were even scheduled to be open. DHS and other agencies are ramping up security for New Year's Eve.

The FBI, Secret Service, police and sheriff's departments across the country are paying close attention to the next few days in particular. Now. Earlier this month in California, the FBI announced a foiled plot in the southern part of the state where suspects planned to plant bombs to go off on New Year's Eve. In Southern California, in various communities, five people were arrested. Preparations for the famous celebrations in Times Square in Manhattan have been underway for some time, at least behind the scenes. Now we're starting to see more in front of the scenes. In New York, officials are expected to hold a news conference before the celebrations officially get underway.
