Fuel to the plane was cut off moments before that crash. Now, according to the report released by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, the flight lasted about 30 seconds between takeoff and CR and once it reached its top recorded speed, fuel control switches for the engines were moved from the run to the cutoff position, starving both engines of fuel. Now, the report did not say how the switches could have flipped. One of the engines was able to be restarted, but the plane could not gain power quickly enough as it began to lose altitude. This preliminary report also indicated that both pilots were confused over the change to the switch setting.
