Chip McMurray with the Pacific Tsunami Warning center in Hawaii. The first wave rolling onshore there about 45 minutes ago with more waves expected.
Chip McMurray
Maybe about a foot and a half above a normal sea level. And then the signal was dropping below normal sea level when I, when I left a minute ago. But that's just the first part of the wave. And we know from what we observed at Midway, it was actually the third wave at Midway was the largest.

One of the world's strongest earthquakes, an 8.8 magnitude struck Russia's far East, generating the tsunamis for the Pacific Ocean basin. And a wave has also reached southern Alaska with one projected to reach the upper US west coast in less than half hour. A tsunami warning now in effect for the Oregon, California border where a five foot tsunami is expected. A wave of about nine feet also reached Japan. President Trump doubles down on his ultimatum aimed at the Kremlin. He's giving Russian President Putin 10 days to reach a ceasefire with Ukraine or face stiff tariffs.
President Trump
I used to say to you 5,000 people die a week. Now it's 7,000 people are dying a week, mostly Ukrainian and Russian soldiers, but people all also from having bombs dropped on their head. It's a disgusting war.

Repeating our top story. Tsunami alerts are in effect across much of the Pacific Ocean basin, including Hawaii, southern Alaska and the entire US West Coast. On Capitol Hill, undoing Washington regulations. The Trump administration's doing away with an EPA rule that supporters say is a tool to fight climate change. Opponents argue it gave Washington too much authority over businesses.
Mark Meredith
It's taking back a policy dating back to the early Obama years, which gave the EPA sweeping authority to impose regulations to fight climate change. The Trump administration says it's killing off the endangerment fighting, which determined that public health and welfare was under direct threat from carbon dioxide and other gases. The energy secretary claims Democrats abused the rule for more than a decade to pass sweeping regulations on everything from electric vehicles to household items. Former vice president turned climate activist Al Gore among those outraged. Gore putting out a statement saying that the EPA announcement ignores the blindingly obvious reality of the climate crisis and sidelines the EPA's own scientists and lawyers in favor of the interests and profits of the fossil fuel industry.

Fox says. MARK Meredith, there will be a review process before the rule is reversed. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is drafting an ordinance preventing law enforcement officers from concealing sealing their identities.
Janice Hawn
The proposed law a response to recent ICE raids where agents refused to ID themselves. The law, which is expected to pass, would require federal as well as local and state officers from wearing masks except during undercover operations, and require them to display ID and agency affiliation while on the job. But its co author, supervisor Janice Hawn, acknowledges it may be difficult to force ICE agents to follow the law. GARY baumgarten, FOX news and I'm Carmen Roberts.

The newscast opened with an urgent tsunami alert affecting multiple regions across the Pacific Ocean basin. Carmen Roberts reported at [00:02] that tsunami waves have reached Hawaii and Alaska, signaling a significant natural disaster unfolding in real-time.
Chip McMurray, representing the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii, provided detailed insights at [00:08]:
"Anticipating from our models that, yes, we are going to have a significant tsunami going across our islands and arriving on all the coasts."
McMurray further elaborated on the water levels, noting at [00:16]:
"Maybe about a foot and a half above a normal sea level. And then the signal was dropping below normal sea level when I left a minute ago. But that's just the first part of the wave. And we know from what we observed at Midway, it was actually the third wave at Midway was the largest."
The severe tsunami was triggered by one of the world's strongest earthquakes, an 8.8 magnitude strike in Russia's far East. This catastrophic event has generated massive tsunamis affecting not only Hawaii and Alaska but also reaching southern Alaska and projecting towards the upper US West Coast within the next half hour. Additionally, Japan has been hit by a nine-foot wave, underscoring the widespread impact of the disaster.
Transitioning from the natural disaster update, Carmen Roberts highlighted significant geopolitical tensions involving the United States. She reported that President Donald Trump has intensified his ultimatum to Russian President Vladimir Putin concerning the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. At [01:19], Trump was quoted:
"I used to say to you 5,000 people die a week. Now it's 7,000 people are dying a week, mostly Ukrainian and Russian soldiers, but people all also from having bombs dropped on their head. It's a disgusting war."
Speaking from Air Force One at [01:36], President Trump emphasized that he remains uncertain about the effectiveness of imposed tariffs on Russia, suggesting that Putin is determined to continue the war regardless of economic pressures. This geopolitical tension has had immediate repercussions on the financial markets, with stock indices retreating from record highs. Specifically, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by over 200 points in response to uncertainties surrounding trade negotiations with China and in anticipation of the upcoming Federal Reserve rate decision scheduled for Wednesday.
In a significant policy shift, the Trump administration is actively dismantling environmental regulations established during the Obama era. Carmen Roberts reported at [03:07]:
"On Capitol Hill, undoing Washington regulations. The Trump administration's doing away with an EPA rule that supporters say is a tool to fight climate change. Opponents argue it gave Washington too much authority over businesses."
Mark Meredith, a spokesperson for the administration, detailed the changes at [03:30]:
"It's taking back a policy dating back to the early Obama years, which gave the EPA sweeping authority to impose regulations to fight climate change. The Trump administration says it's killing off the endangerment fighting, which determined that public health and welfare was under direct threat from carbon dioxide and other gases."
Meredith further criticized the previous administration's approach:
"The energy secretary claims Democrats abused the rule for more than a decade to pass sweeping regulations on everything from electric vehicles to household items."
This regulatory rollback has sparked backlash from environmental advocates, including former Vice President and climate activist Al Gore, who issued a strong condemnation:
"The EPA announcement ignores the blindingly obvious reality of the climate crisis and sidelines the EPA's own scientists and lawyers in favor of the interests and profits of the fossil fuel industry."
Shifting focus to local governance, Carmen Roberts announced at [03:07] that the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is in the process of drafting a new ordinance aimed at enhancing transparency among law enforcement officers. The proposed legislation seeks to address recent incidents where Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have refused to identify themselves during raids.
Janice Hawn, co-author of the ordinance, explained at [04:25]:
"The proposed law a response to recent ICE raids where agents refused to ID themselves. The law, which is expected to pass, would require federal as well as local and state officers from wearing masks except during undercover operations, and require them to display ID and agency affiliation while on the job."
Hawn acknowledged potential challenges in enforcing this new requirement:
"[...] it may be difficult to force ICE agents to follow the law."
Despite these challenges, the ordinance is anticipated to gain approval, reflecting the county's commitment to increasing accountability and trust between law enforcement and the community.
The 2AM ET episode of the Fox News Hourly Update delivered a comprehensive overview of pressing national and international issues.
