A European diplomat confirms to Fox that President Trump supports Putin's proposal for Russia to take full control of Luhansk and Donetsk, which is basically all of the Donbas region in the eastern part of Ukraine, and freeze the frontline elsewhere. That territory would go to Russia in exchange for a ceasefire agreement with Kyiv. Ukraine's repeatedly said it will never recognize Russian occupation of its land. President Trump's expected to host Ukraine's President Zelensky Monday at the White House along with several European leaders. In Washington, Jill Naito, Fox News.

Monday's meeting follows face to face discussions between Presidents Trump and Putin in Alaska Friday. European leaders weighing in on President Trump's meeting with Russia's Vladimir Putin over ending Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

European leaders released a statement, including the UK prime minister, French president, German chancellor and Italian prime minister, saying they welcomed President Trump's efforts to end the war, saying they are also ready to work to make a trilateral summit happen. The European statement, also signed by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the Polish prime minister, Finnish president and European Council president, said Ukraine must have ironclad security guarantees to defend itself while Europe will continue to uphold pressure and strengthen sanctions on Russia. Residents in Moscow say a major breakthrough was unexpected, but the fact that the meeting happened was positive. While in Kiev, residents disapproved of the red carpet Putin received and have reacted with skepticism.

Canada's government has ordered Air Canada and its striking flight attendants back to work and into arbitration. Fox's CB Cotton reports.
CB Cotton
Canada's jobs minister has ordered those Air Canada flight attendants back to work and pushed their bitter contract dispute with the airline into binding arbitration which means a mediator or will now decide the terms of the new contract, this move aiming to end the airline's first strike in nearly 40 years. The government's action came less than 12 hours after the strike first began. The union and the airline have been at odds on the unpaid work flight attendants do when planes are not in the air, any work during boarding, the planing or safety checks. Air Canada's latest offer was a 38% increase in total compensation over four years, and the unionized flight attendant said it was an exaggerated number and not good enough.

The strike halted flights and stranded thousands of travelers. A flash flood watch is in effect for the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico with the potential for flash flooding and mudslides due to Hurricane Aaron. Mike Brennan is the director of the National Hurricane Center.
