This is a FOX News alert. Texas senators pass the redistricting map. I'm Carmen Roberts. Just moments ago, lawmakers in the Texas Senate gave final approval to a redrawn congressional map designed to give the GOP five more seats in the U.S. house during next year's midterm elections. That measure now heads to the governor for his signature. In California, a board denies Lyle Menendez's request for parole one day after also refusing to grant his brother Eric release from prison. The two have served more than 35 years in prison for the 1989 murder of their parents. The parole board's reason for denial, same for both men. Misbehavior behind bars. Menendez attorney Mark Garagos.

It's not the worst day that they've had, but at the very least they should have gotten a fair hearing and they did not get that.

Garrigo says they will challenge the board's decision and otherwise the Mendez brothers can apply for parole again in three years. Ghislaine Maxwell says she does not know about any Jeffrey Epstein client list. That's one of the many statements she made to a federal prosecutor during a recent interview as she serves time for sex trafficking. On Friday, the Justice Department released hours of interviews with her and she also.
C
Said there are no high powered individuals that were on any sort of list. She did not incriminate anybody. In that nine hour interview that she did with the deputy attorney general, Todd Blanche, she said right here, quote, there is no list. We'll start with that. The genesis of that story I can actually trace for you is from its absolute inception, if that is what you're interested in. That's part of the DOJ transcript. Todd Blanche went down to meet with her in a highly unusual move last month down in Tallahassee, Florida, where she was serving that 20 year sentence at the time.

Repeating our top story, the Texas Legislature gives final approval to a new congressional map favoring the GOP and sends the measure to Governor Abbott for his signature. More mobilization of National Guard troops ahead. Up to 1,700 soldiers are set to be called up in 19 states to help with President Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration and crime.
E
Fox News has learned the National Guard will be assisting homeland security and will be activated in several states, their status effective from August through mid November. A US Defense official says the soldiers will be serving as a deterrent force while acting as a support pillar to a sweeping federal interagency effort. Guard members supporting ICE will be handling transportation, logistical support and clerical functions to help process undocumented migrants. That official says they may be collecting personal data, fingerprints and DNA samples. Texas is projected to host the most significant Guard presence.

Fox's Jill Nadeau. A Colorado judge slaps down a plea deal for a funeral home owner who confessed to abusing nearly 200 corpses.

More than 190 bodies were found at the Return Return to Nature Funeral Home in Colorado Springs, many of them decomposing for years as owner John Holford and his wife were living a lavish lifestyle while also defrauding the government of nearly $900,000 in pandemic relief aid. Holford pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges and is already heading to prison for 20 years. But now a plea deal on state charges is rejected, the judge saying he was swayed by family members who had been given fake ashes. They wanted a more severe punishment than a proposed 20 year state sentence to be served at the same time as the federal sentence instead of consecutively. LISA brady, FOX news and I'm Carmen.
