It was his August 2022 text messages about then state House Speaker Republican Todd Gilbert, which included the phrase three people, two bullets. Gilbert, Hitler and Pol Pot. Gilbert gets two bullets to the head. Well, that of course, ignited a political firestorm. Jones, for his part, has issued a statement apologizing for the text, writing in part, I've reached out to Speaker Gilbert to apologize directly to him, his wife Jennifer and their children. I cannot take back what I said. I, I can only take full accountability and offer my sincere apology.
