The annual budget request from the administration calls for one and a half trillion dollars for the Pentagon, the top line defense spending number ever and a 44% increase from last year's defense budget. The White House budget office says the spending increase would provide for a pay raise for troops resupplying munitions and investing in a Golden Dome missile defense shield. Non defense spending would drop by $73 billion, a 10% cut by eliminating what the administration calls woke weaponized and wasteful programs.

by U.S. immigration and Customs Enforcement of the detention facility known as Camp East Montana, located in El Paso, Texas, revealed 49 safety violations. The deficiencies, as they're called, concerned food safety and quality, the use of force and restraints on detainees and the facility's overall security. The inspections are part of a congressionally mandated oversight of ICE facilities and was conducted in February. At least 14 immigration detainees in ICE custody have died so far this year. Two of those deaths occurred at this El Paso facility. Eben Brown, FOX News.

The Trump administration scaling back plans to dismantle the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, keeping more than 500 instead of just 200 of the original 1700 workers. The new plan outlined in court documents, still facing opposition from an employee union and may need a judge's approval. Duke University freshman Cameron Boozer is named the Associated Press men's basketball Player of the year.

Boozer, whose father, Carlos, played 13 in the NBA and whose fraternal twin brother, Caden, was a Blue Devils teammate, led Duke in scoring, rebounding and assists second year in a row. A freshman from Duke won the AP award last season. Cooper Flagg 6 9, 250 pound forward Cameron Boozer had already been named the national Player of the year by the U.S. basketball Writers association and the Sporting News. He received 59 of 61 votes from AP top 25 voters.
