The congressman continues to deny those accusations and in a post on X he suggests that this might have been politically motivated. They also come on the eve of an election where I have been the frontrunner candidate for governor in California. Chronicle first broke the story of an anonymous ex staffer who claims Swalwell sexually assaulted her while she was intoxicated once she worked for him. And years later since that initial Chronicle report, three additional women also spoke to CNN with sexual misconduct allegations including accusations that the congressman sent explicit text messages and nude photos. Republican candidate for California governor Steve Hilton releasing a statement saying it shows the complete contempt these career politicians have for the public.

grew nearly 1% in March. The that's on par with what economists predicted. Tripling from February is the largest increase since June 2022. Stripping out volatile food and energy costs. Core CPI hit 2.6%. That was slightly below the forecast. Inflation is above the Fed's target range and will play a major role in its meeting this month. Fed members have been divided on when the next cut should come. Energy costs are up nearly 11% with gas spiking more than 21%. Average gas prices ticked up to $4.15 a gallon a month ago. That was 354.
