The Virginia attorney general launched a last ditch effort to the Supreme Court in hopes of reviving the state's plan to redraw its congressional districts to gain additional Democratic seats. Asking the justices to block a May 8 ruling by the state Virginia Supreme Court that invalidated an amendment to the Virginia constitution that allowed the state's legislature to enact a law. A new congressional map before the midterms. But the AG's emergency appeal found no traction at the nation's highest court, which many legal experts considered a long shot because the Virginia Supreme Court's ruling rested on its interpretation of the state's constitution.

Iran's foreign minister says a lack of trust remains the biggest obstacle in negotiations to end the war with the U.S. iran's foreign minister said contradictory messages from the U.S. have made Iran unsure of U.S. intentions in the stall, cease fire negotiations.
