President Trump calling it a good talk. This morning, a virtual meeting called by European leaders with Ukraine President Zelensky to hash out the issues before President Trump's Alaska sit down with Vladimir Putin.
Mark Meredith
President Trump has wrapped up his call with his European counterparts as well as President Zelenskyy of Ukraine. This call considered quite pivotal considering the president will be heading out to Alaska on Friday for his RA one on one summit with the Russian president. President Zelinsky made some comments while speaking in Berlin in which he said he believes the main topic on Friday between Trump and Putin should be a cease fire between Russia and Ukraine and that he hopes future meetings will involve all three countries, Ukraine, Russia and the United States. Remember, the meeting on Friday is just going to be with Putin and Trump. We're also hearing from the German chancellor who says it was a, quote, very constructive meeting with President Trump. European leaders have been very vocal that they wanted to make sure they were well represented before Trump had a chance to sit down with the Russian president.
Therese Crowley
Fox's Mark Meredith Zelensky says he told President Trump and the Europeans Putin is bluffing. He doesn't want peace. He wants to occupy our country. Mexico, responding to pressure to take action against the drug cartels, steps up to extradite 26 high ranking cartel leaders to.

Fox News Hourly Update - Detailed Summary Episode: 2PM ET 08/13/2025 Newscast | Release Date: August 13, 2025
The Fox News Hourly Update delivered a comprehensive overview of the day's most pressing issues, ranging from federal interventions in Washington D.C., cultural events at the Kennedy Center, international diplomatic maneuvers involving the United States, Russia, and Ukraine, to significant actions against drug cartels in Mexico. The following sections encapsulate the key discussions, insights, and conclusions from the episode.
Therese Crowley opened the segment by addressing the ongoing efforts to restore order in the U.S. Capitol following recent disturbances. She reported:
"[00:02] Federal agents embedded with D.C. police on the streets of America's Capitol, netting over 103 arrests so far, taking two dozen guns off the streets under the Trump move to federalize D.C. police."
This move, initiated by then-President Donald Trump, involves federalizing the District of Columbia police to bolster security and reduce crime rates in the nation's capital. David Spunt provided further details on the ground situation:
"[00:17] National Guard troops took to their posts last night patrolling the streets and neighborhoods of the nation's capital. No major incidents that we are aware of. Overnight, things seem to go smooth and that watch continued through the night."
In an exclusive report, Spunt recounted Attorney General Pam Bondi meeting with key federal and local officials, including FBI Director Cash Patel, U.S. Attorney Janine Pirro, and D.C. Police Chief Pam Smith, to discuss the transition plan granting the Department of Justice (DOJ) temporary control over the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department. Muriel Bowser, Mayor of D.C., expressed her concerns and cooperation:
"[01:03] 'We certainly want to know what we're being measured against. And I think they want, they regard it as a success to have more presence and to take more guns off the street. And we do, too, saying they intend to work closely with their federal partners to cut crime.'"
Mayor Bowser also emphasized the need for additional D.C. police forces despite the federal intervention, highlighting the city's commitment to enhancing public safety.
Shifting to cultural affairs, Crowley reported President Trump's visit to the Kennedy Center, where he announced new honorees recognized for their contributions to the arts:
"[01:15] President Trump visits the Kennedy center, which he chairs, to announce new honorees. Great American performing artists, Gloria Gaynor, George Strait, Michael Cro, Kiss and Sylvester Stallone."
During the event, President Trump lauded the honorees' lasting impact on American culture:
"[01:35] 'There's very few, almost if any people that could have taken a name and made it so incredible like Rocky Rambo, Creed and others. But think of it, Rocky, Rambo, if you did one, you're good.'"
Crowley noted the president's remarks as a move to "take the woke out of the Kennedy Center," implying a return to traditional values and recognition of classic American icons.
A significant portion of the update focused on the geopolitical tensions involving President Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Mark Meredith reported on the preparatory meetings leading up to Trump's planned summit in Alaska:
"[02:27] President Trump has wrapped up his call with his European counterparts as well as President Zelenskyy of Ukraine. This call considered quite pivotal considering the president will be heading out to Alaska on Friday for his one-on-one summit with the Russian president."
Zelensky articulated his stance in a recent Berlin speech, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire:
"[03:07] 'Zelensky says he told President Trump and the Europeans Putin is bluffing. He doesn't want peace. He wants to occupy our country. He hopes future meetings will involve all three countries, Ukraine, Russia and the United States.'"
Meredith highlighted the German Chancellor's view of the discussions:
"[03:07] European leaders have been very vocal that they wanted to make sure they were well represented before Trump had a chance to sit down with the Russian president."
The update underscored the delicate balance European allies seek to maintain while the U.S. navigates direct negotiations with Russia, aiming to address the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
In international law enforcement news, Attorney General Pam Bondi detailed a significant extradition deal between the U.S. and Mexico targeting high-ranking members of notorious drug cartels:
"[03:24] The U.S. these nearly 30 individuals include top leaders of the Sinaloa, Jalisco and Nareste cartels, all designated as foreign terrorist organizations."
Bondi emphasized the gravity of the charges against the extradited individuals:
"[03:24] 'These 26 men have all played a role in bringing violence and drugs to American shores under this Department of Justice. They will face severe consequences for their crimes against this country. We are grateful to Mexico's national security team for their collaboration in this matter.'"
The charges include:
Crowley added context regarding the collaboration between the U.S. and Mexico:

This joint effort marks a significant step in combating transnational criminal organizations affecting both nations.
