Just getting word that school boards in two Northern Virginia counties are now suing the U.S. education Department trying to block funding cuts after districts rejected calls to change policies over bathroom access for transgender students. Fairfax and Arlington counties are seeking a preliminary injunction blocking any funding withdrawal. As that legal fight plays out, a bill creating a new congressional map is signed in Texas.

Firing Robert F. Kennedy Thursday. The CDC director, Susan Minarez has been let go now. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says President Trump made a mistake in hiring Kennedy, that he knew he'd be a disastrous pick and must now fire him. But the White House spokeswoman confirmed it was President Trump who let Manara's go. Kennedy said during a press conference Thursday he wouldn't get into personnel matters.

A federal appeals court blocking plans to end the temporary protected status, upholding a lower court ruling and finding that the plaintiffs are likely to succeed in arguing that the governing statute written by Congress doesn't give the Homeland Security chief the authority to vacate or set aside a prior extension of the status made by the Biden administration. One House Republican plans to force a vote on banning congressional stock trading.

Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna is planning to utilize a discharge petition to bring her bill to the floor that would ban members of Congress from trading stocks. The petition would force the bill to come to the floor for a vote if it gets 218 signatures. A ban on stock trading has received a bipartisan push, with several bills being considered and debated this Congress. Those opposed to the ban argue members of Congress should be free to make money. And lawmakers have not received a pay raise in well over a decade despite the rising cost of living.
