A final pre trial hearing today for Ryan Ruth, the man charged in a second Trump assassination attempt on a Florida golf course last year. He's representing himself after firing his public defenders, though the judge told them to remain on standby.

Now Ruth is expected to face challenges as his trial moves forward. Communication between Ruth and the judge about legal proceedings took up a lot of time. She explained how the trial will work, making it clear to him that he cannot give lengthy objections. She ordered the shackles be removed and is requiring him to wear business attire after prosecutors raised concerns that he might wear political clothing.

Word that hundreds of military lawyers could head to the Justice Department to serve as temporary immigration judges. A memo reviewed by the Associated Press says the defense secretary has approved sending up to 600 military lawyers with groups of attorneys, both military and civilian, to be identified beginning soon. Iowa Republican Senator Joni Ernst just confirming she will not seek real election next.
