On that Democrats message is you deserve better. The president has argued Democrats were destroying America and he's restoring it. And he's pledging again to solve a crime issue in Chicago where the mayor and governor keep pledging to resist federal intervention like the surge, including national guard troops in D.C. the president expected to announce soon that Space Command headquarters will move from Colorado to Alabama, reversing a Biden decision not to move it. A final pre trial hearing today for Ryan Ruth, the man charged in a second Trump assassination attempt on a Florida golf course last year. He's representing himself after firing his public defenders, though the judge told them to remain on standby.

Now Ruth is expected to face challenges as his trial moves forward. Communication between Ruth and the judge about legal proceedings took up a lot of time. She explained how the trial will work, making it clear to him that he cannot give lengthy objections. She ordered the shackles be removed and is requiring him to wear business attire after prosecutors raised concerns that he might wear political clothing.

Word that hundreds of military lawyers could head to the Justice Department to serve as temporary immigration judges. A memo reviewed by the Associated Press says the defense secretary has approved sending up to 600 military lawyers with groups of attorneys, both military and civilian, to be identified beginning soon. Iowa Republican Senator Joni Ernst just confirming she will not seek real election next.

Ernst is an Iraq War combat veteran and Iowa's first woman elected to Congress. Third term Republican Congresswoman Ashley Hinson is widely expected to run for Senate now, joining two Republicans and several Democrats already in the race. Police in Virginia are investigating debris found along the Potomac river, whether it from a deadly plane crash earlier this year.
