He's told Republicans to play their trump card and go for what is called the nuclear option here in Washington. Get rid of the filibuster and get rid of it now. If they get rid of the filibuster, it would allow Republicans to pass this funding bill with just 51 votes instead of 60. It is, though, very, very unpop here on Capitol Hill. And it could certainly scare some moderate Democrats into joining Republicans and reopening the government.

The New York City mayor is hiring more police.

The investment announced by Mayor Eric Adams will bring the total number of New York City police officers to its highest level in two decades. It will add 5,000 uniformed officers for a total of 40,000 by fiscal year 2029. The phase in is set to begin in July of next year, with 300 officers growing to 2500 in 20 and getting to 5000 in July of 2020. 8. Adams, a former NYPD officer, has been boosting police numbers since taking office as mayor. His administration points to the hiring of nearly 1100 recruits in August, marking the highest number of officers sworn in by the NYPD since early 2016 in New York City. Tanya J.

Part of him would love a secret school tryst, who was told he was being fired in February following months on administrative leave, appealed before accepting a $254,000 settlement that includes legal fees and back pay.
