With the federal government shutdown continuing, Senate Majority Leader John Thune says he's got a plan to get Democrats on board to end the government shutdown. Thune telling his colleagues Thursday his stopgap funding bill will fund the government until January and provide a full year of funding for veterans and food assistance programs. House Speaker Mike Johnson over telling reporters he could not commit to holding a vote on extending pandemic year over Obamacare subsidies, which are set to expire at the end of the year. Democrats have made that a core requirement for their support. The Senate has voted down a continuing resolution 14 times so far. Travelers are bracing for chaos as Friday continues and the flights are being reduced at the country's busiest airports because of the shutdown.

The FAA has ordered airlines to reduce the number of flights by 4% starting today, ramping up to 10% next week at the nation's busiest airports, including Atlanta, Denver, Dallas, Orlando, Miami and San Francisco. The National Air Traffic Controller Association President Nick Daniels says staffing issues are getting worse as they've now missed two paychecks and some workers are having trouble paying for gas, food and childcare. There was a trainee today that before I just left the office to come here, said I've been evicted. United says some regional and domestic flights that do not fly between hubs will be impacted. Delta and American say they anticipate most travel will carry on as scheduled, but they will help schedule changes and offer refunds to those impacted. Jessica Rosenthal, FOX News, in a statement.

From Joint Base Andrews spokesperson confirming multiple people fell ill after an individual opened a suspicious package Thursday. Those people evaluated and treated by medical personnel and were later determined to be in stable condition and released. The building and a connecting building were evacuated. US strikes on drug boats can continue after Senate Republicans block an effort to end President Trump's authority to authorize the strikes.

A group of bipartisan senators is trying to prevent President Trump from pursuing his air campaign targeting alleged drug boats in South America.
