The longest government shutdown in history is now over. I'm Ted Lindner. FOX News. President Trump signing a funding bill on Wednesday night the House had passed just hours earlier. Fox's Kevin Cork with all the details for us this morning.
Kevin Cork
The president said a couple things that I thought were very important. He said, listen, we really have to terminate the filibuster moving forward so that we can avoid having this happen again. He said this cost over a trillion and a half dollars. But ultimately, he said his party did not give in to extortion. This bill does reverse the widespread layoffs of some federal employees which happened during the shutdown. And there's actually a moratorium on doing that again at least until January. This also obviously does not include any extension of the Affordable Care act subsidies.
Ted Lindner
Democrats pledge to continue to fight for those subsidies, which the Senate is expected to vote on in December as the shutdown ends. A top Democratic leader is facing increasing calls for replacement.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Progressive Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Corte Cortez is facing calls to primary Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. She wouldn't tell FOX News Radio if her fellow New Yorker should be removed as the top Democrat in the Senate.

This problem is bigger than one person and it actually is bigger than the minority leader in the Senate.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
A handful of Democrats in the House have called on Schumer to resign after the Senate passed a stopgap measure to reopen the government that didn't extend the Affordable Care act tax credits. Schumer did not vote for the bill and hasn't given any indication he plans to step down. On Capitol Hill, Ryan Schmell's FOX News.

And a man who denies stabbing a migrant farm worker to death during a 2002 robbery remains set for execution today. This even though a state panel recommended his life be spared. 46 year old Tremaine Wood is scheduled to receive a lethal injection at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester. The pardon and Parole board issued an uncommon clemency recommendation last week. America's listening to FOX news.

Skeens have joined elite company. Skubal, the Tigers ace became just the 12th player to win the Cy Young in consecutive years. Pedro Martinez was the last American League pitcher to go back to back, earning the honor in 1999 and 2000. Skubal had the lowest ERA in the AL and didn't give up a run in 12 of his 31 starts. And Pirates flamethrower Paul Skeens continues to rack up the awards, winning his first National League Cy Young one year after being named the NL Rookie of the Year. Skeens is the first pitcher since Dwight gooden in the mid-80s to win rookie of the Year one season and a Cy Young the next. Joe morgan, Fox News and the Mega.
