Two months after investigators captured 28 year old Derrick Groves under a house in Atlanta, he appeared in a New Orleans courtroom where Judge Dennis Waldron rebuked him for the disruption caused by his five months on the run. Last year, a jury convicted Groves of two counts of second degree murder for killing Jamar Robinson and Byron Jackson at a 2018 Mardi Gras party and two counts of attempted murder in the same shooting. The judge said Groves showed no remorse and sentenced him him for the four crimes to two life terms in prison plus two consecutive 50 year terms.
