The National Transportation Safety Board is on scene to look into what caused UPS Flight 2976, an over 30 year old McDonnell Douglas MD11, to crash on takeoff. Right now, flights remain limited in and out of Louisville where a shelter in place. Order has been reduced to about a quarter mil surrounding the crash site.

If confirmed as hostage remains, that would leave six others still in Gaza earlier in the day. Israel handing over the bodies of 15 more Palestinians. Voters in Seattle will have to wait a bit longer to find out who their next mayor is.

It could take several days to determine a winner of Seattle's mayoral race. In Washington state's all mail in ballots had to be postmarked by Election Day, meaning a substantial portion of the vote is counted after Tuesday. The first batch of returns has incumbent Democratic Mayor Bruce Harrell leading with about 53% of the vote versus 46% for challenger progressive activist Katie Wilson. A win for Harrell would make him the first Seattle mayor to win re election since 2005 and suggest the city's voters may not be ready to embrace Wilson's brand of progressive politics.
