Get back to Washington And Lisa Brady, FOX news. That's what Speaker Mike Johnson is telling House members after a handful of Senate Democrats helped break a filibuster advancing a new bill to end a government shutdown.

As we said from the beginning, the people's government cannot be held hostage to further anyone's political agenda.

The new bill would fund the government through January and some programs longer, but it does not include the extension of Obamacare tax credits the Democrats were pushing for instead. Instead, Republicans only promising a separate vote on that in December. The spending bill would need a vote in the House, which had passed a different stopgap measure in September. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer still blames Republicans for the shutdown and says the health care costs still need to be addressed.
