A fraudulent end to 2025. I'm John Saucier, FOX News. Congress ain't ready to hold hearings next week on this fraud scandal involving government assistance programs in Minnesota next week. Here's fox's Rich Edson.

The House Oversight Committee has announced it'll host hearings on the Minnesota fraud beginning next week. Chairman James Comer said in a statement that, quote, Congress has a duty to conduct rigorous oversight of this heist and enact stronger safeguards to prevent fraud in taxpayer funded programs as well as strong sanctions to hold offenders accountable. The committee says it has invited Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison to testify next month. Next week, the committee will hear from Minnesota state lawmakers who Comer says sounded the alarm and were ignored by the governor. Walz has said they spent years cracking down on fraud, referring cases to law enforcement.

The governor's office, meanwhile, has accused state Republican leadership of withholding hundreds of tips about fraud from state law enforcement so that they could release them during an election season. We're winding down this 2025, but it's already 2026 in other parts of the world, including in Auckland, New Zealand, Fireworks there, the city Sky Tower, other events being held in Beijing, in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Sydney. Going to work with local, state and federal partners to enhance safety measures of a specific threat. But because they say there's going to be a massive crowd size. So they're going to add in thousands of police officers to screen at all of those access points. New this year, officers will patrol in the pen. So they're going to be walking around in plain clothes and in uniform. The NYPD commissioner says it's a tactic based on global terrorism trends. Also, alcohol is not allowed in here into this area in Times Square. So they're going to check bags for that. Backpacks, larger bags not allowed in America's.
