The plan by the governor was to try to set up a safety zone for peaceful democratic protests. Instead, the protesters took those metal barricades and attacked the police officers with them. Police responded with tear gas and flashbang grenades. Finally, in the it was only officers on horseback that managed to take control of the street. Once again, more than a dozen arrests made. Some of those arrested, police say, had weapons on them and some coming from as far away as Portland, Oregon, here to protest 9pm curfew in effect. Now for the first time in 11 days, it may be working. Hundreds of officers march off several hundred demonstrators.

The latest UC Berkeley poll shows the mayor's race at a statistical tie between Bass, Pratt and Democratic Progressive Councilwoman Nithya Rahman. Also, it's close in the governor's race, with the top candidates making their final push to voters. Mailed ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day and receive no later than seven days after, so it could take some time before we get those final results. During the 2024 primaries, it took two weeks to count 99% of the ballot.

A hospital spokesperson said none of the American passengers have shown hantavirus symptoms, which can take from 21 to 42 days to develop. The disease is usually spread when people breathe in residue from contaminated rodent droppings, but this version, the Andes virus, can in rare cases be transmitted person to person. The World Health Organization said the three deaths on board the MV Hondius were linked to the outbreak. Grinal Scott, Fox News.
