President Trump calls it a big win. I'm Sue Guzman, Fox News. This as the Supreme Court rules he can fire a federal trade commissioner even without cause.
Rebecca Slaughter
FTC Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter had argued she could only be fired for cause. The president had simply written that keeping her on was inconsistent with his administration's priorities. The majority opinion wrote that while it's up to the Senate to decide whether to confirm those with whom the president would prefer to work, neither Congress nor the courts may saddle him with those with whom he cannot work. This rul effectively overturns what is known as Humphreys Executor, a ruling once used to stop President Roosevelt from firing an FTC commissioner without cause. The court now writes the Humphreys framework has not withstood the test of time as agencies like the FTC and its commissioners take on more executive branch functions which are under the president's exclusive control.

Anita Vogel
President Trump put it in plain English with this post on Truth Social saying, quote, iran has requested a meeting. It will take place tomorrow in Doha. Well, the post came just hours after top Iranian said there are no talks planned for this week. But the White House still insists top diplomats will be flying there for meetings. They are supposed to be technical talks about the memorandum of understanding and Trump says there's actually quite a bit on the agenda.

Colorado Democratic Party primary takes place today
Alicia Acuna
Democrat primary for House District 1, which is mostly Denver, is shaping up to be less about policy and experience and more about new and different. Incumbent Democrat Congresswoman Diana DeGette, one of the longest serving in the House, has comfortably held her seat for nearly 30 years. She faces her most significant challenge yet by two newcomers, Democratic Socialist Mila Kiros and Wanda James. Pax, supporting DeGette, poured in a late infusion of cash to defend against Quiros, who has seen a surge in attention.

Kristin Goodwin
The newcomer sparking an investigation from the state's lieutenant governor and fears he was a sham candidate, with critics warning the nearly identical names would confuse voters and give a boost to Democratic Senate challenger former Representative Mary Peltola. Alaska's Supreme Court ruling the challenging Sullivan is qualified to run, ordering elections officials to place him on the August primary ballot.
