A majority of Supreme Court justices blocked an executive order from President Trump that was intended to prevent automatic citizenship to children born in the US to parents in the country illegally or temporarily. Chief Justice John Roberts concludes the 14th amendment ensures any person born on U.S. soil is a U.S. citizen.

US Negotiators Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff meet with Qatari mediators, but no Iranians in Doha. Iran is circulating a plan with US Ally Oman to collect tolls in the Strait of Hormuz despite American objections. The White House, reacting to the news as reported by the New York Times, telling Fox President Trump has been clear that Iran cannot control the strait, which is an international waterway. Tensions pushed oil prices slightly higher Tuesday ahead of the talks. But President Trump has been pressuring gas companies to lower prices to $2.50 a gallon, accusing them of price goug. Meantime, Democrats still broadly opposing military action, are expressing little faith in diplomatic efforts.

We've got extreme heat warnings up from the Midwest, down the middle Mississippi, the Ohio Valley, and of course into the mid Atlantic and back up into the Northeast.
