But Israel's army says it fired warning shots Saturday at a group that approached troops guarding a site. They say the group ignored calls to keep their distance. Now witnesses and hospital officials say dozens of Palestinians were killed in the confrontation. The New York Times says many people walk to the sites early in a desperate effort to get something to eat. Food is scarce in Gaza, and the handouts from the foundation often run out quickly.
