Among those killed, NYPD Officer Dita Rul Islam, an immigrant from Bangladesh who served on the force for three and a half years. In Reno, Nevada, a gunman opened fire yesterday outside a casino resort, killing three people and wounding three before police shot and arrested him. Ukraine says Russian airstrikes killed at least 21 people overnight, including some at a prison in the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 40 people were injured. Speaking in Scotland yesterday, President Trump sharply reduced his deadline for President Russian President Putin to end the fighting or face tough sanctions.

As we reported, New York City police say that last night's mass shooter had a history of mental problems. That's also the case for a man accused of stabbing 11 people at a Walmart Walmart in Michigan over the weekend.
Mike Tobin
The suspect in the Walmart attack, Bradford James Gilley, generated at least 26 criminal cases over the last 19 years, including 2016 when he was charged with disinterment and mutilation of dead bodies, as well as malicious destruction of tombs and memorials. The judgment was not guilty by reason of insanity.

James Craig is charged with murder in the 2023 suburban Denver death of his wife, Angela Craig. He's also charged with asking a fellow jail inmate to kill the lead detective in the cops say James Craig mixed the poisons into her protein shakes. The defense argues Angela Craig was depressed over James Craig's infidelities, intimating that that led her to take her own life. Gary Baumgarten, FOX News.

Democratic lawmakers from Congress tried to visit an ICE detention center in Maryland yesterday.
Bob Barnard
They had hoped to see inside the ICE detention facility here in downtown Baltimore and perhaps meet with detainees, as many as two dozen right now. But despite giving advance notice, things did not go as planned. At first, the lawmakers staged a sit in outside the door that had been shut in their faces. Then they were told the acting director of the ICE office here would meet them in the hallway. Acting field office Director Nikita Baker told them higher ups at headquarters instructed her to deny their visit with detainees.
