California's Governor Newsom has welcomed Texas House Democrats who fled the Lone Star State to avoid a GOP redistricting vote.
Jonathan Hunt
Fox's Jonathan Hunt Texas Democrats came to California to stand alongside governor Gavin Newsom and the Democrats insisted their actions in leaving Texas are meant to protect democracy rather than damage it. And Governor Newsom promised that if Texas goes ahead with a redistricting plan that would likely give Republicans for five more House seats, then he will bypass California's redistricting commission and pursue a plan for the state that would hand Democrats the same number of seats. With enough Democrats absent in Texas to deny Republicans a quorum, the state attorney general, Ken Paxton, has now filed a legal complaint in California seeking to enforce arrest warrants for the missing Democrats.
