President Trump is pushing for a trilateral summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin by next Friday, but he says that hinges on Monday's White House meeting with Zelensky and other European leaders. Trump is also now shifting his focus to reaching a lasting peace deal between Russia and Ukraine instead of just a cease fire. This all comes just hours after what's being called a productive one on one meeting between Trump and Putin in Alaska. As of now, Putin reportedly wants all of eastern Ukraine's Donbas region in exchange for freezing the current front lines. Putin would also apparently agree not to attack Ukraine or other European nations again.

Meanwhile, European leaders are debating the possibility of giving Ukraine security guarantees similar to NATO's Article 5, which would obligate NATO members to respond to any attacks. European leaders are weighing in on President Trump's meeting with Russia's Vladimir Putin over ending Russia's war on Ukraine.
C
European leaders released a statement, including the UK prime minister, French president, German chancellor and Italian prime minister, saying they welcomed President Trump's efforts to end the war, saying they are also ready to work to make a trilateral summit happen. The European statement, also signed by EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the Polish prime minister, Finnish president and European Council president, said Ukraine must have ironclad security security guarantees to defend itself while Europe will continue to uphold pressure and strengthen sanctions on Russia. Residents in Moscow say a major breakthrough was unexpected, but the fact that the meeting happened was positive. While in Kiev, residents disapproved of the red carpet Putin received and have reacted with skepticism.

Canada's government has ordered Air Canada and its striking flight attendants back to work and into arbitration. Fox's CB Cotton reports.
E
Canada's jobs minister has ordered those Air Canada flight attendants back to work and pushed their bitter contract dispute with the airline into binding arbitration, which means a mediator will now decide the terms of the new contract. This move aiming to end the airline's first strike in nearly 40 years. The government's action came less than 12 hours after the strike first began. The union and the airline have been at odds on the unpaid work flight attendants do when planes are not in the air, any work during boarding, deplaning or safety checks. Air Canada's latest offer was a 38% increase in total compensation over four years, and the unionized flight attendant said it was an exaggerated number and not good enough.

The strike halted flights and stranded thousands of travelers. A flash flood watch is in effect for the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico with the potential for flash flooding and mudslides and due to Hurricane Aaron. Mike Brennan is the director of the National Hurricane Center.
