Two votes on the hepatitis B vaccine are scheduled today after being postponed Thursday. One decision is whether the first vaccine dose for children should be delayed until the child turns at least one month old. As of now, a first dose of the vaccine is usually given not long after birth. The panel will also look at whether all pregnant women should be tested for hepatitis B. On Thursday, the committee recommended the single dose measles, mumps, rubella, varicella vaccine given to children before they turn four be broken up into two separate shots.
