One week into the government shutdown and the finger pointing continues. Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson wants a clean spending bill to end the shutdown while Democrats are digging in with their demands. As we hear from fox's Ryan Schmelz.

Democrats have remained firm on including a permanent extension of Affordable Care act tax credits as part of a deal to reopen the government. Republicans have said the issue should be dealt with separately and the tax credits need to be reformed. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries was asked by Fox News Radio if reforming the program is on the table.

But in Nashville, staffing shortages disrupting operations for several hours, forcing pilots to get airspace clearance from the regional tower. Over in Memphis, a similar scenario unraveling. In Burbank, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy acknowledged the government shutdown is adding stress to air traffic controllers, leading to a rise in sick calls. He says some are even considering taking a second job as they worry about missing future paychecks.

The National Hurricane center says Tropical Storm Jerry has strengthened in the Atlantic and it's on a path toward the Caribbean with maximum sustained winds at last look, 50 miles an hour.
