A ceasefire takes effect in Gaza. I'm Sue Guzman, Fox News. Israel's cabinet has approved President Donald Trump's plan for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of the remaining hostages held by Hamas. Fox's Jonathan Savage tells us what's expected in the coming days.
Jonathan Savage
The clock started ticking when the Israeli government ratified the deal. Within 24 hours, the ceasefire is scheduled to begin. A further three days are then allotted for locating and returning the 20 living hostages and also the remaining remains of 28 who've died. The pullback of Israeli forces to the so called yellow line demarcating roughly half of the Gaza Strip should take no more than a day. Meanwhile, Israel is preparing for the arrival of President Donald Trump. The president says he'll try to get there this weekend. He'll also look to conduct a signing in Egypt where the deal was negotiated. Jonathan Savage, Fox News.

The IDF says a reserve soldier was killed in a sniper attack right before the ceasefire took effect in Gaza. Federal judge temporarily blocking President Trump's National Guard deployment to Chicago for at least two weeks.
Judge April M. Perry
Judge April M. Perry says deploying troops anywhere in the state would, quote, only add fuel to the fire. The temporary restraining order comes after some local and state officials sued the Trump administration over the troops deployment. They called it a, quote, unconstitutional invasion of Illinois by the federal government. The Trump administration argued that the National Guard is needed to protect law enforcement personnel and federal property in the Chicago area. They say the levels of violence against federal law enforcement executing their lawful duties have reached an unprecedented high and that there is a lack of assistance from local law enforcement.

New York State's top cop is now facing charges Fox's Kevin Cork reports.
Kevin Cork
A federal grand jury in Virginia indicting the New York attorney general Letitia James on two counts related to alleged mortgage bank fraud. James, or Big Tish as she's been monikered by some of her critics, was being probed for alleged paperwork discrepancy on her Brooklyn townhouse and her Virginia home. She allegedly declared both to be primary residences on mortgage applications, which you just can't do. She has publicly denied any wrongdoing and she responded to the charges today with a video saying this about the president.

President Donald Trump
President Trump says the government shutdown, now in its ninth day, is damaging and will get worse the longer it goes on.

We'll be making cuts that will be permanent and we're only going to cut Democrat programs, I hate to tell you. I guess that makes sense, but we're only cutting Democrat programs.
President Donald Trump
The president did not specify which programs could be on the chopping block. In the initial days of the shutdown, the White House Budget Office froze billions of doll and infrastructure funding for Democrat led states. The administration is also warning of layoffs, not just furloughs for federal workers. At the White House, Jared Halpern, Fox News.
