Florida Republican Anna Paulina Luna is introducing a resolution to expel Swalwell, the most serious punishment the House can take against a member. The Manhattan DA's office has also opened an investigation. Colorado becomes the first state to pass a law addressing questions about a type of drug test used by police.

The color metric drug test is a common tool used by law enforcement. It's fast, cheap and can determine for police in the field if a suspect is on drugs. But a bill that sailed unanimously through the state legislature was signed into law on March 26 by Governor Jared Polis no longer permits a positive result by itself to serve as the basis for an arrest. Instead, police officers can issue a summons. Experts say the test can produce false positives, leading to wrongful accusations and arrests in drug cases. The law also requires courts to inform defendants of the fact that defendants have the right to request confirmation testing by a forensic laboratory before accepting any plea deal.
