Dr. James McLean of Ontario was placed under mandatory clinical supervision for at least six months over complaints linked to Canada's Medical Assistance in Dying program. Officials say in 2023, he briefly evaluated a man suffering from depression and Crohn's disease while outside a coffee shop, then determined he qualified for euthanasia. That patient was medically euthan a year later. In another instance, they claim he neglected to give a patient one of the three medications used in assisted suicide in Canada and that the patient began breathing again after being declared dead. Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell accuses United Health Care Insurance of defrauding the state's Medicaid program Mass Health out of more than $100 million by coding lower income older adults as sicker than they actually are to get higher rates. The plan operates in the status UnitedHC Community Plans of Massachusetts. Campbell says she's suing to recover the improper payments and triple damages.
