In Ayatollah statement, he says it was the American president who out of desperation used all kinds of leverage to bring this about. The Ayatollah goes on to say he helped held a different view on the memorandum of understanding, but signed off on it after Iran's president accepted responsibility for its outcome and said he wouldn't give in to excessive American demands. The Ayatollah also addressed the upcoming negotiations, saying that just because negotiators were meeting in person, it didn't mean that they would be accepting all of America's demands.

A judge sentences a Southern California couple for the starving death of their baby.

The San Diego County District attorney's office revealing 26 year old Elizabeth Uckman and 25 year old Brandon Copeland were each sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Separate juries finding them guilty of second degree murder in the 2021 death of their three month old daughter, Delilah. Prosecutors say the baby had no underlying health conditions and died after suffering from prolonged starvation and neglect, arguing the parents failed to seek help and noting the little one weighed less than four pounds when she passed, less than half her birth weight. Defense attorneys tried to push back against the murder charge, arguing both parents were struggling with their mental health and social services didn't do enough to intervene.
