At least 70 dead in Central Texas floods. I'm Daria Albinger. Fox News. Search and rescue is giving way to some search and recovery missions as the Guadalupe river begins to recede. Many are still missing.
Bain Froney
We've been surveying the damage and it's, it's vast throughout this entire community. Now, while the river has started to recede, we're seeing a lot more of that damage. But the waters came all the way up to this road impacting all of these local businesses. Trees down, I mean, debris everywhere. This garage just completely destroyed. I mean, there's furniture hanging around and, you know, windows broken, debris and miscellaneous things stuck in the branches. And this is a common scene that we are seeing all throughout the county.

Tropical Depression Chantal bearing down on South Carolina. Fox Weather's Mike Seidel is in North Myrtle Beach.
Mike Seidel
The wind is howling here at the beach. We're getting blasted by the sand, still some leftover rain. We've got six to eight footers rolling in. Later on as the wind goes offshore, they'll clear up and the surfers are going to love that. Looking up the beach. There's a few folks out here. You know, I've spoken to a lot of people covering all these storms over the years, storms and hurricanes. A lot of them come out here because they've never experienced a tropical storm or hurricane. They just want to take it in. And it's safe to do so right now as long as you stay out of the water as far as impacts. Power outages, not too bad because the peak wind gust was here at the pier just down the beach at Spring Maid Pier in Myrtle Beach. The peak wind gust for the storm that we've seen on the coast so far, 56 miles an hour.

That system is expected to weaken even more soon, even after President Trump signed it. The debate continues over that one big beautiful bill.
Mike Johnson
Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson says the most important economic part of the bill was making the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent.

But California Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna pushes back on that claim.

I just don't think that taking away the health care with the Medicaid cuts and food assistance to give the tax breaks for the very wealthy is going to be good for working and middle class Americans.

The newscast covered severe weather impacts in Texas and South Carolina, significant political developments, economic legislation debates, and an alarming maritime incident in the Red Sea. Below is a detailed summary of the key segments, complete with notable quotes and timestamps for reference.
The newscast opened with a tragic report on the devastating floods in Central Texas, where Daria Albinger reported:
Bain Froney, Fox Weather correspondent in Kerrville, Texas, provided on-the-ground insights into the extensive damage:
"We've been surveying the damage and it's, it's vast throughout this entire community. Now, while the river has started to recede, we're seeing a lot more of that damage." (00:15)
Froney detailed the destruction caused by the Guadalupe River's overflow, highlighting the widespread impact on local businesses and infrastructure:
"This garage just completely destroyed. I mean, there's furniture hanging around and, you know, windows broken, debris and miscellaneous things stuck in the branches." (00:22)
As search and rescue operations transition to search and recovery missions, many individuals remain missing. The segment underscored the severity of the situation and the ongoing efforts to assist affected families.
Transitioning to the White House's response, Madeline Rivera reported on the administration's condolences and support for Texas:
"President Trump is expressing sympathy for those affected by the flooding. He says in a post on Truth Social, 'Melania and I are praying for all the families impacted by this horrible tragedy. Our brave first responders are on site doing what they do best. God bless the families and God bless Texas.'" (00:55)
Vice President J.D. Vance added his heartfelt remarks:
"Our nation's heart breaks for the victims in Texas and their families. Just an incomprehensible tragedy." (01:05)
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, actively involved in the relief efforts, was on the ground coordinating with local and state leaders:
"She's been working with Kerrick County leaders and state leaders to make sure they get what they need. She's activated the US Coast Guard and FEMA resources as well." (01:15)
Secretary Noem also addressed concerns regarding the National Weather Service's technology:
"The technology used by the National Weather Service is ancient and neglected, and the administration is committed to updating it." (01:25)
In a surprising political development, Elon Musk declared his intention to establish a new political party:
"Americans deserve a choice between just Republicans and Democrats. So I'm creating a new party, a political party I call the America Party." (01:31)
Musk emphasized the need for a comprehensive blueprint to support the new party's launch, appealing directly to Fox News listeners for support.
The weather updates continued with Mike Seidel from Fox Weather reporting on Tropical Depression Chantal nearing South Carolina:
"The wind is howling here at the beach. We're getting blasted by the sand, still some leftover rain. We've got six to eight footers rolling in." (02:32)
Seidel described the storm's effects in North Myrtle Beach, noting the safety measures in place:
"It's safe to do so right now as long as you stay out of the water as far as impacts. Power outages, not too bad because the peak wind gust was here at the pier just down the beach at Springmaid Pier in Myrtle Beach. The peak wind gust for the storm that we've seen on the coast so far, 56 miles an hour." (02:50)
The system was expected to weaken shortly, providing some relief to the coastal areas.
A significant portion of the newscast focused on the ongoing debate over a major piece of legislation, referred to as the "big beautiful bill," recently signed by President Trump. Mike Johnson, Republican House Speaker, highlighted the bill's economic benefits:
"The most important economic part of the bill was making the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent." (03:27)
He further elaborated on the anticipated financial impact:
"The average American, the typical American household will have $13,000 more in take-home pay." (03:35)
However, California Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna contested these claims:
"I just don't think that taking away the health care with the Medicaid cuts and food assistance to give the tax breaks for the very wealthy is going to be good for working and middle-class Americans." (03:54)
The contrasting viewpoints were also discussed during their appearances on FOX News Sunday, underscoring the bipartisan disagreement over the bill's effects on different economic classes.
In an international incident, a FOX News ship in the Red Sea caught fire following a series of attacks. Daria Albinger reported:
"A FOX News ship set ablaze in the Red Sea is taking on water. The British military says the crew is preparing to abandon the vessel." (04:10)
While no group has claimed responsibility, suspicions point towards Yemeni-backed Houthi rebels. The situation remains tense, with the safety of the crew as the primary concern.
